A few questions..

Hi, I'm new here, and I just downloaded Adium.
There are a couple of questions that I wanted to Ask.
You know when You're talking to someone in a chat window on Adium, and you can see your own name when you send a message? But when the other person replies back I can only see their E-mail address. Is their any way I can change that?
Also when I try and change my display name, My other contacts can only see a bit of it. For example, If i changed it to "Everything's not lost" They would only be able to see "Eve."

Erm... There were a couple of other things too I think, Can I have "What I'm listening to" as my personal message like you can on MSN (When you're listening to iTunes) and the last thing was can I turn off the annoying little black transparent pop up messages I get whenever anyone signs on, goes offline, or sends me a message. It's *really* annoying >.>

I don't know how coherent that was, i'm not very good at explaining things. If you need anything clarifying or explaining in more detail i'll do my best. Please help me out if you can, If I can work out how to get rid of/change these things i'm switching over to Adium completely.

That's Growl, a notification system that works with many applications. It has a preference pane in the System Preferences, there you can deactivate it completely or just for Adium.

Yeah, My friends all use MSN, apart from one who uses Pigin, but both my friend who uses Pigin and my friend who uses MSN say that my name is just coming up as "Laura :: Eve" rather than "Laura :: Everythings not lost" but on my screen I can see my full name.

No, the iTunes status doesn't work, I can click it but it'll just come up with "iTunes-" and not display the song after it.

Ok, in that case I'm afraid it's a known problem that hasn't been fixed, yet. See #10758.

You can Adium to alert you. In Preferences -> Accounts click the "Edit" button for your MSN account, choose the "Settings" tab and check the last checkbox there.

Ahhh right so that e mail/name problem hasn't been fixed yet?
I hope it gets fixed soon, but I can probably learn to live with it (Much better than going back to MSN: Mac anyway, what a god-awful program!)

I would really like to figure out what's up with my "iTunes" settings on it though. I hope I can figure it out, i've gone through all of the settings/preference's I can find and I've come up with Nada.
As for the screen name being shortened on other people's accounts, it seems to have fixed itself. That's one less problem for me to worry about!

I'm impressed with Adium in general though, I do really like the program.

You can't see the tune you are listening to but others can with the itunes status.

This isn't the proper what I'm listening to though that you see in WLM but support for this will be available in Adium 1.4.
