Weird contact issue.

I am using Adium 1.3, with mac OS 10.4 (Tiger).
I have tried upgrading to the new adium, completely uninstalling and reinstalling adium, everything I can think of, to fix this issue.
One single contact on my list has a name which will not change. All of my other contacts' screen names change when they change them--if "Steve" changes his screen name to "Steve--gone out for the night", I see the new one when it's changed. This one, single contact, has been "stuck" with the same name for about two months now. She is using MSN, thus her address is a @hotmail.com address. I can't figure out for the life of my why nothing, not even getting rid of her as a contact and re-adding her--updates her name. It's getting frustrating, as she uses her name a lot to say if she's away from the computer, and I don't get those messages.
Any theories?
Also, when I uninstalled, and reinstalled, Adium, I stopped getting the little window upon signing in, that would tell me how many messages are in my hotmail inbox, with a link to open hotmail--it's been so long since I set that up, and now I can't find the how-to to get it back. Could somebody gimme a step-by-step on reactivating that feature?
