When I receive a message from a friend, the message window automatically pops up on my screen. I don't want that. All i want is the dock icon to bounce and display the number of messages i have. I dont want any other notification whatsoever. HELP.

Other than hiding Adium itself, there is no way to hide the message window when a new, initial message comes in.

Is this a feature that will be added on the future? Seems like an obvious setting someone might want.

Example, I have someone looking at something over my shoulder, I don't want the msg to popup right there for them to read.
Or I walk away from my PC for a moment without locking it, don't want to have to worry about what might popup on the screen.

Why not just hide Adium?

I tried that, but the only "hide" I found was, hide adium when in background. This works almost just the way I want. Problem is when I do open the message, I want to keep it open to read it while I'm doing something else and I can't. The second you click off the message onto something else it hides the window as well. So the only way I can read the message is to stop what I'm doing and click back on adium. It's pretty annoying when you're having a conversation where you're mainly just reading, or need the info on it to do what you are working on. But then if I turn hide off, I get the problem where it pops up in front of everything on the initial message from anyone.

When you activate Adium, so that the Adium-options are on top of your screen, you click Adium and choose "Hide Adium" (4th from the bottom), is that what you are looking for?

Ok just tried that option as well and no good. I was using the one in Advanced before. Unfortunatly, it still pops up the msg window on initial message.

I would love this functionality as well. A simple checkbox "hide initial chat windows" would do it.
