Contact list color issue and message window question

I'm really sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't think of how to search for it.

I have my contact list in all black with white text for everything. Alerts, away, idle, regular, everything. But when I click on a contact, the contact bubble becomes highlighted as blue with white text. As a junkie for white on black themes, you can imagine how this bothers me. I've looked everywhere. Any ideas?

Also, is there ANY way to skin the white text entry bar in the message window, or the tabs?

I don't know a solution.

The color comes from the "Highlight Color" in the Appearance pane of the System Preferences. It's not application specific, so you don't have a whole lot of control over that one.
