status notification

Post by NowhereMan »

I have a flat screen monitor set to 1280x1024. I also have Adium set to show the status of the friends list whenever anyone goes on or offline. The problem is that it appears 80% offscreen on the right-hand side. How can I get the notice to appear in the center of the screen?

I'm so new to the program, I'm not sure what growl is. If I understand what you are asking, I downloaded, the Star Trek package so that it looks like the LCARS display from the show.

well i dont think thats growl so i show you how to activate growl... it wont look starwars but in the adium version its going to be the standard anyways
Quit Adium.

Get Info on Adium in the Finder.

Expand the 'Plugins' section (if it isn't already expanded) by clicking on the disclosure triangle.

Check the box for Growl.AdiumPlugin.

Launch Adium.

try that and tell me if it fixes your problem

I did just as you suggested, and I appreciate the help, but it didn't make a difference. I am going to reset it to the default settings and see if that makes a difference.

Well, that didn't take long. The status window that appears is still mostly off the screen.

I think in version .7x if you control-click, option-click, or command click (can't remember which :P) on the status notification window, you will be able to drag it anywhere on the desktop.

You are right about the command click. it allows the display to be moved anywhere. What I'm talking about is a display message that appears on screen anytime someone logs on or off or goes idle. It only stays on screen for a few seconds then disappears.. :?

try to DISable the "subtle mode" in preferences (i think it was in advanced -> notifications) and when the next notification appears you should be able to move it simply with the mouse. All future notification will remember the new place.
After that, reenable the subtle mode.

Thank you. I'll give that a try and report back with the results. :)
