leaving offline messages

Post by lingave »

How does one leave messages for contacts when they are offline and you are online but know you might miss them? I cant get Adium 1.3.1 (mac) to do it with my Windows Live Messenger contacts. I can leave offline messages for my Yahoo contacts just fine.

I get offered the following 2 options: Dont Send and Send Later. The small print under Send Later informs me that the message will be sent the next time both I and my contact are both online.

WHY :???:

If I see my contact online, the message I was going to leave is redundant, useless! I'll be able to say whatever it was directly.

I hope it is something that is currenly possible to do within Adium as I have to log out of Adium & then into MSN/aMSN just to to leave the offline message. A bit daft. . . .

Helen - hoping for enlightenment

The problem looks to be with MSN for Mac, rather than Adium itself.

I have both installed and I can't send messages to Offline contacts in MSN, or Adium. Hopefully it's something that'll be sorted soon.

You are able to send offline messages in Adium 1.3.2 which currently is beta and can be found @ http://beta.adiumx.com.

trying to send message to an icq contact which is offline.
getting following text in popup window:
"<the contact> appears to be offline. How do you want to send this message? Send Now will deliver your message to the server immediately. <the contact> will receive the message the next time he or she signs on, even if you are no longer online. "Send When Both Online" will send the message the next time both you and <the contact> are known to be online and you are connected using Adium on this computer."
what the hell?? if i press "send" in chat window, this exactly means that i'm going to send it now! and nothing else!!!
does anyone knows how to kill that anoying popup window forever??
