Gah! Groups problem

I just downloaded Adium today because it looked more full-featured and expandable than iChat has ever been. Well it seems that so far all is well except for one thing: I can't move people into new groups. I quickly found that you could just drag and drop contacts into groups but when I do so it tells me that it can't do so and that I might have too many contacts, which is certainly not the case. Also I've tried adding people to new groups manually, which also doesn't work.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this a known bug? I've already repaired permissions, thinking this might have been an install issue. I'm about to trash preferences and see what kind of change that brings, though since this program was JUST INSTALLED I don't figure that corrupted preferences is the problem.

I'd really like to use this program as it seems intuitive but I'll be darned if I can get it to work right.

I've fixed this just by trashing the preferences folder and then starting everything from scratch again. I talked to one of my friends about this and he encountered the same issue. I don't know why that had to be done but it can be noted as a bug.

This is no bug.

Adium stores all groups locally as well on the server, so Adium is having conflicts. It can set the server's but not the local groups.

To fix this next time, trash ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/libgaim/blist.xml

Well, it's definitely a bug.. anything that doesn't work as expected is by definition a bug for reasonable expectations :)

It's an annoying one which is definitely on our radar.

Pleased about finding this solution as I have been battling with this very same thing for hours on my wifes iBook, I have had no trouble and I am using Azure/Azure, while she has Bubbles/Aqua (Panther), I even removed all of the groups from iChat. This seems to have arisen since the Apple 10.3.9 update.

I have also found that meta lists have become a hassle as I was finding that I could not maintain a preferred address so ended up removing all of the meta lists which meant removing plists, address book script entries and anything else I could find to thin it down. This is a problem as I now have to have separate alias's for each address which bulks things up.
