Different Status Messages for Different Accounts

Post by michaelgoerz »

Hi,

I'm wondering if it's possible to define a set of different status messages for different account that can then be activated with one click.
The way Adium seems to work, I can define some status (say an Away with the message "Out for lunch") and save it as "lunch". If I click on "lunch" in the Status menu, that status will be set for all of my IM accounts. Alternatively, I can go to the submenu for a specific account inside Status and click on "lunch" there, which results in the status being set only for that account.

What I'm looking for is this, however: I have an ICQ account with mostly German people on it and an AIM account with mostly American people on it. So, I want to define a status "lunch" so that when I click on "lunch" in the status menu, the ICQ account gets set to Away with the message "Beim Mittagessen", while the AIM account gets set to Away with the message "Out for lunch".

Another example of what I like to do frequently is to define a status that sets one of my accounts to Available on all others on Invisible.

I recently moved from Pidgin to Adium. In Pidgin this kind of status message profile is possible: grouping different status messages for different accounts together. Is there any way to accomplish something similar in Adium?

Thanks,

This sounds like a decent idea which, as far as I know, hasn't been implemented, yet.

Feel free to file a feature request. Start here if you want to. :)

Mit freundlichen Grüßen. ;)

It actually can be done quite easiy with AppleScipt:

But of course, it would still be a nice feature to have inside Adium as well.

Thanks,

In Adium 1.3.2, go to accounts, right-click on individual accounts (edit mode) and you can customize the status and/or connect-when-adium-opens default etc individually.
