Backing up history and contacts etc.

Question #1: I am having trouble remembering if contacts are automatically saved remotely. I need to wipe my mac because somehow an anti-virus program snuck onto it (goodness knows how) and I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to do anything special to insure not losing contacts.

Question #2: Do I need to back up my chat/message history manually? It seems like I would need to but I couldn't find how to do that in the FAQ or figure it out by poking around in the program. If someone could let me know I would appreciate it.

Question #3: Is there a way to take contacts off one account and put them on another? Specifically want to transfer all my contacts from my old MSN account to my new one. I have been trying to do that manually but it is amazingly painful! I also potentially may want to do this with an old aim to new aim account.

Thank you!

Yes, they are. :)

Well, it is in the FAQ (see http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/FrequentlyA ... ranscripts). You mightn't have guessed we use the word "transcript" instead of "log" mostly. ;)

I don't think so. :/ But maybe someone else here knows better...

Thank you Robby! Unfortunately in these steps...

1. Press ⇧⌘H. This opens your Home folder.
2. Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default.
3. Hold down the Option, Alt, or ⌥ key, and drag the Logs folder to the other location.

There is no way to do step 2. There is no Adium folder in Application Support. What do I do?
Does anyone know?

That folder must be there. Otherwise, you have never used Adium because once Adium is started this folder is created.
Have you tried searching for the "Adium 2.0" folder with Spotlight?

The easiest way I can think of is to ask all your contacts to delete your old account from their contactlist and to add your new one.
You can ask them via email (one email for all contacts) and via a personal message in Adium.
Let them do the work. All you have to do then is accept their requests to add you to their contactlist. ;)

OooOOoh! But, half my friends poof for months at a time.
I'll just keep fishing them out, log in now and then and grab 'em. =]

Thanks for the suggestion though!
