Random empty "MSN Chat" windows popping open

Hi guys - I'm getting quite frustrated with the latest version of Adium, 1.3.2. A couple times a day, a message window pops up on the screen with one tab called "MSN Chat". There is one contact in the chat room, however there is no chat message. It's always the same contact, and he's not sending me anything or doing anything. I've tried removing him from my contacts and blocking him, but then the same thing happens with someone else on my contact list (it seems to always be the person at the top of the list in alphabetical order).

I came back from a weekend trip yesterday and Adium was flooded with 10's of thousands of tabs all with "MSN Chat" - it was impossible to close them all, and it was taking up all available system memory grinding the entire OS to a halt. I cannot figure out what to do!! If I can't figure this out, I will be forced to remove the program and try something else. Anyone have any ideas? Or is there anywhere I can download an older version of Adium, perhaps 1.2.x? Thanks!!
