Yahoo isn't logging in
Yahoo isn't logging in
I can't get Adium to login to either of my Yahoo accounts. This has been happening for at least a week. I just tried to login using the Yahoo software, and it works fine, so that leads me to believe it's an Adium issue. It never tells me something is wrong -- it just tries to connect forever with no success and no error message or anything. It will go all day trying to connect.
Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
Try this:
1. Disconnect Yahoo
2. Change the connection config from scs.msg.yahoo.com into 66.163.181.106
3. Enable Yahoo
Does that solve the problem?

Thanks a lot from Argentina.

I'm having the same problem, but I'm using mac and it doesn't have an option to connect through an ip address as mentioned above. Any ideas?alcmaer wrote:Try this:

Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
I tried the IP address for the server. doesn't seem to be working now.
Yahoo IM won't connect.
while I was away from my Mac today, I got about 18 Adium popups on my Yahoo IM. some of them were telling me to upgrade to the latest Yahoo IM software.
I'm able to connect just fine with Yahoo Messenger, so I'm guessing it's something Yahoo changed that the Adium developers will have to compensate for. I know a recent Adium upgrade had a fix for frequent Yahoo disconnects. perhaps Yahoo has taken it a step further in their updates to their servers and how the clients connect to them.

Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
I have the same issue...
and i tried putting in the IP address vs the name
and either way it fails to connect-- but never returns an error either
Additionally it occurs in both 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 (mac) and prior to about 6pm on 12/5/08 it was working
and got a message indicating yahoo was down for maintenance and to avoid this get the newest client...
and then pooof, adium fails to connect

Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
yeah, some of the messages were maintenance, some were "upgrade your client".
I've got 1.3.2 myself.
if you open the accounts window, it will give you an error after it times out.
Error: Socket is not connected
then it will try reconnecting again in about 10 minutes. it just won't pop up a message like before.

Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
this is annoying! I got the message 'no address is associated with nodename' tonight, but Yahoo was functioning as of 11:05 pm last night. I am using version 1.0.6 (the latest version for 10.3.9), and this bug still exists (even when I changed the settings!)
I just recently tried a ping test on the address 66.163.181.106, and it said 'Ping Result : Time out'
also, one of my friends said 'ya i was having problems with that earlier, there was a message saying that yahoo messenger would be down for a while!' she is using Yahoo messenger 9 on windows XP.

Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
having same problem this afternoon. Yahoo has apparantly broken Adium. Hope there will be a fix soon.
Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
I'm experiencing the same, Adium 1.3.2. Also, same problem with IM+ on the iPhone. Works OK with Yahoo Messenger 3.0 beta 3.
Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
I have contacted Yahoo customer support about this issue, and I am waiting for them to respond to my email! when I solve the problem, I will tell everyone how to fix the problem...
I did notice that yahoo suggested that I try using these settings to make messenger work (but I kept getting kicked out when I did):
Login Server: webcam.yahoo.com
Port: 5100
connection: TCP
this is a step in the right direction, but not a fix by any means!

Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
I was having the same problem from Thailand but the fix >>Change the connection config from scs.msg.yahoo.com into 66.163.181.106<< worked okay from here on a Mac running 10.5.5.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
it doesn't exist anymore! it may login, but there is no service, no contacts, nothing! I've officially disabled yahoo until someone solves the problem!
Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
Am having the same issue here. Latest version of Adium with OSX 10.5.5. Started this evening sometime. Tried Proteus and same issue. Yahoo's client works though.
Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
Running a netstat with the mainline client I see: netstat -W |grep "yahoo" tcp4 0 0 192.168.1.10.60970 sip28.voice.re2.yahoo.com.https ESTABLISHED tcp4 0 0 192.168.1.10.60964 cs125.msg.ac4.yahoo.com.mmcc ESTABLISHED
Versus this with Adium: netstat -W |grep "yahoo"
tcp4 0 0 192.168.1.10.60982 cs106.msg.sp1.yahoo.com.mmcc ESTABLISHED
perhaps that is an issue..

Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
Interesting. Yahoo just logged in here with Adium. I logged out and back in and it's working.
Re: Yahoo isn't logging in
Adium works here too, using both the IP address, 66.163.181.106, and scs.msg.yahoo.com.
I can see my online friends and I can see myself. I'm also logged in to Yahoo Messenger with a different ID. each ID can see the other.
maybe it was just a Yahoo server maintenance that caused all the problems. it seems to be resolved, for now.

Adium-Menu-> Preferences-> Accounts-> doubleclick the Yahoo-account-> Options-> Account Server...ChippyTPS wrote:I'm having the same problem, but I'm using mac and it doesn't have an option to connect through an ip address as mentioned above. Any ideas?alcmaer wrote:Try this:
