Windows Live Messenger 9 users picture not displayed

It seems like this is now broken again in 1.3.3.b4 and 1.3.3rc1. WLM9 users can see changes to my avatar but adium can not see changes to theirs. Can anyone else confirm this?

I don't use MSN a lot myself and I don't know anybody using WLM 2009 but it is very likely that some things are still broken – Microsoft madness!

In any case, we have to see what the Pidgin guys do.

Yes, some are updating again for me but just extremely slowly. Some still aren't at all though. Perhaps its just a problem at my end.

They change their picture. -> Their client sends a command to the server. -> The server sends a command to your client. -> Your client asks for the new picture. -> Their client sends you the new picture. -> You see the new picture. Check Adium Menu->Debug Window when someone changes their display picture and you will see what happens.

You know for sure that they are running wlm 2009 all the time? Sometime people use a web client or a mobile client which may or may not support display pictures etc.

Same problem here, avatars/display pictures of some contacts not showing. One of the contacts with display picture tried to change it, in WLM9, and the display picture didn't change in my Adium.

Hmm, it seems that Adium only manages to download a certain number of DPs every time I log in. I've had to log on and off several times to get all my contacts' DPs. Once I've downloaded them, Adium manages to update them, though.

Anyone else experiencing this?

If you connect for the first time or with no cache it will try to download all display pictures but it can't fetch them all at once because then the server would kick you out so it should just take a while to get all. I think it stores the display pictures request on a stack though and it can get full so that might be why not all pictures are downloaded the first time you connect if you have a lot of contacts. But since you usually have most of the pictures cached this isn't a problem.

I have successfully downloaded 1.3.3b3 by means of http://rapid4me.com/ and have no provlems either with avatars or with anything else.

1.3.3rc1 (which is the most recent, there was even a b4) is openly available at Adium Beta.
