Error: "Unable to retrieve MSN Address Book"

Adium is "Unable to retrieve MSN Address Book", so i can't log in to my MSN.
It worked about 3 hours ago, now it isn't working and I haven't installed anything.
By the way: If i use Microsoft Messenger it does log in.

I've also got the same problem. At first I thought it was because my account had recently been hacked, so I made a @live.com.au account
That didn't work either.

So I deleted Adium and reinstalled it to see that it still fails. Maybe Microsoft patched the part where we can connect via Adium?

same here ! Proteus is working fine, are they not using the same lib?

Yep! The same here. I was using to talk with some friends, my dad, and then I went to get a glass of water. When I came back, my MSN contacts disappeared. Then I noticed it was trying to reconnect unsuccessfully.

Are there damn Microsoft people working on Sunday to change MSN protocols? lol

I had the same problem 3 hours ago, tried to install it again (donwloading the image and overwriting the apps directory), tried using default preferences, another mac os x account, and nothing, the list can't be retrieved, also my Adium crashed at that time, before that it was working perfectly, what's going on? What can we do? I am using MSN now and no problem,son it is not the account...

I've got the same problem, it stopped when I tried installing 1.0.6 but it kept happening in 1.3.2 and 1.3.3b

Same thing is happening to me. Just started an hour ago, was working fine the rest of today.

Probably has something to do with Microsofts AWESOME upgrades to Hotmail.

same thing here, was connected and the next minute Adium could not retrieve my MSN contacts.
MSN messenger is still connecting though...really weird !
they must have changed something in the protocol.

Chiming in: same problem (I'm in The Netherlands). Tried a number of different things but because today I work from home it's my lifeline to colleagues so I'm now on the Mac MSN Messenger (o the horror!).

Hope I can go back to the clean lines of Adium soon...

Works fine with aMSN.
