Possible memory leak?

Postby shanus » Thu Jan 15, 2009 12:41 am

I've noticed after I keep Adium open for almost a day, I get a rather large slowdown when I attempt to keep conversation windows open. When I accumulate a long convo with my girlfriend of say a day or two, typing starts to get very slow where I see it lag the inputs of each letter up to several seconds. I start to feel a slowdown, but it is completely fixed when i quit and restart adium so I don't think its another app.

For specs, I'm on a Dual 2ghtz G5 (ahhhh old PPC I know, still runs well though), latest version of 10.5.6?, with message style: iPhone & iPhone Mini, color theme ITunes 7

Could you post a screenshot of the Activity Monitor?
(By the way, I'm also on PPC, Mac Mini G4 even. I haven't had that problem, however.)

Happened this morning, the first image is it in its laggy state, each IM took up over 95% of my CPU, whereas the second image is upon restarting the client where each IM took 5-7%.

Thanks for the screenshot, that's good illustration.

I'd suggest trying the TroubleshootingTips first, if you haven't done so yet.

Still happens once in a while even after I've done the whole shabang of the troubleshooting tips. It seems to only happen with contacts I leave open for a very long time and have very long convos with.

Please submit a sample (see http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/Sampling) of Adium while this high-usage is occurring.
The duck still burns.
