Colors: Use Buddy's Colors Hybrid

Dear developer(s),
As they might say in the orient, "I love you long time." Adium is excessively cool, with way more options than any other chat client that I've ever seen. And it's free. Much thanks.
Question: Would it be possible to make an add-on that would allow the user to use the colors of whoever they're talking to, but also *send* a set of colors based upon the buddy?
For example, my friend AIM's me with red text on a black background. My Adium displays it to me based upon my preferences, but when I reply, the background of the user you're messaging *might* match the color of the text I'm sending, which would be unreadable (my black text on top of my buddies black background). What would be really neat is if Adium showed you what colors were being IMed to you, and allowed you to change your *output* accordingly.
