In short:
I'd like to get a notification when a user comes online, but NOT for users who are, for instance, in the Facebook group.
So I'd like Adium to allow me to set which protocols are allowed to display such notifications, and which protocols are not allowed to do so.
If this is already possible or this is not the place for feature request - SORRY!
Feature request: ignore event X for group Y
Re: Feature request: ignore event X for group Y
I just added Facebook to my Adium setup and I have the same desire -- Facebook contacts are ones I mostly don't care about.
When I bring up Info from the Facebook contact group header, it brings up Facebook's Info panel showing the default notifications, but when I click on, say, Notification Received, the - at the bottom is grayed out, so I can't remove it.
Actually, I see the same behavior when I bring up Info for any individual contact on other services too -- there doesn't seem to be a way to suppress notifications altogether, and neither the Actions nor Sound menus have an option to Do Nothing. Am I missing something here?

Re: Feature request: ignore event X for group Y
Regarding the original posters request. This is already possible. If you control-click (right-click) on the group in the contact list and select "Get Info", the tab with the small red light is the event tab. You can apply event configuration for all of your facebook contacts there.
To disable notifications you remove the actions applied to the events. So if no actions are linked to any events, then no events will take place for that group. If an action is applied to the event there could be a little arrow the the left of the event name that you can click to expand the event and see the actions. The - at the bottom would be grayed out because there are no actions applied to that event.

Re: Feature request: ignore event X for group Y
I can't speak for the OP, but I get growl status notifications every time a contact comes online/active, despite a lack of triangles in the event tab.
Re: Feature request: ignore event X for group Y
Indeed I still get notifications as well.
Re: Feature request: ignore event X for group Y
What I did was disable online/offline notifications globally and then enabled it per-protocol based on the instructions above.
Not a convinient way to do so but it works.
Thanks.
