What do I need to do here? My "visual settings" under preferences>events say "bounce the dock icon repeatedly" under "message received" and "message received (background chat)."
I am also currently available and not away (I thought being away had something to do with it).
any help?
and I've read this -

It doesn't just work for me like it does for him.

Did this just stop working all of a sudden or have you just started using Adium?

been using adium for about 8 months now. I can't remember when it stopped working, but i'm pretty sure it did work at one point.

I have had this problem for a while. The dock icon will intermittently fail to bounce while the dock is hidden, but if I show the dock, it will start bouncing. I tried quitting Adium, renaming ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0 and deleting my prefs file, but in fact now the dock icon (default duck) will not bounce at all, under any circumstance. It would be nice if this worked, since none of the other notification methods work well, either (alert windows don't always raise to the foreground, for example).

Have you edited the event settings for the dock icon to bounce?

Yes, like I said - it *intermittently* fails to bounce.
