I will definatly do that. Looks like I may have to update to 0.8 beta of Adium to get it done so it may take a few days (exam time).
Keep the comments coming it has been very helpful. Adium seem to have a great community here.
Here's hoping someone is in the process of making a kick ass MSN emulated interface for Adium 0.8 that looks like MSN 7, that would be fantastic for switchers. (I'm trying to get everyone hooked)

Actually the link no longer works unfortunatly (for the 'The Archive') that Aaudragon posted. Maybe I will stumble across it somewhere else.
Thanks.

It's funny - there is a lot of talk about making switchers "feel at home" by surrounding them with a familiar-feeling GUI... but the biggest attraction for me and my friends has always been how different and clean the Mac OS is.
I say show potential switchers how hot Adium can look - there's no point in trying to tempt them with something that's the same as what they're used to. Give them something better!

that wont probably be possible, maybe something that reminds of msn at most.

Ture and there I times that I do feel the same but I would still like to try. Even if it is just for a lark.

The fun is in the trying I guess.
Yeah sdh, that is what I was hoping for was just something that was reminicent of MSN so users don't have to relearn all the new icons and such.
Exciting news about gaim-vv and the video/audio stuff! Hope it works I've been waiting for that in aMSN and MercuryMessenger but it never seemed close.
I've had to resort to Yahoo for video with my PC friends and it has no audio! Sucks sometimes living in a PC world as I know iChat is so much better but what are you going to do.

Wow. I just updated to Adium X 0.8b8 and it is great. This program just keeps getting better and better. It is such a good quality program the people making it should be proud as this is an example of what mac programs should be. Easy to use, good looking, and custamizable. A hard combinatlion to achive but I think Adium pulls it off.

Well, contact lists are simple... just mess with the settings in Prefs > Appearance and save it as something new. It's that simple.

I tend to agree, but some people (such as old people generally) don't like change, but want the extra functionality that adium has to offer over msn. Therefore i think making adium resemble msn could have its advantages. But i don't see a lot that could be done with the contact list except for changing the colour scheme but it doesn't make such a big difference i think:

It saves automatically, after you create it, it should be in the adium 2.0 folder in Application support

Hay that isn't to hard at all. Thanks Son of a Preacher man.
Budoink and djmori, good work. Yeah I think that is what I am going to do too. Just try emulate the colour scheme as I have everything else looking like MSN. Maybe I will mess around with the background too to get it looking even closer.
Very good examples so far. Does anyone else have examples close to MSN? Feel free to post not only the pictures but also the "contact list" file too so the rest of us can admire your work.
Thanks again.

By the way (sorry if this is a dumb question) does anyone konw how to make or get status icons for Adium X 0.8b8? I would like to change them to the MSN status symbols for busy, away, etc.
Thanks

My suggestion is that if your friends want something that looks like MSN Messenger, behaves like MSN Messenger and smells like MSN Messenger, they really need MSN Messenger. Forcing a change is not going to help really, they won't like it in the end.

if you really want adium to look like msn your going to need some adds at the bottom
