Using Adium with Corporate MSN Account

Post by Ernest »

My company has an internal MSN server which I am able to use with the MAC MSN client. But I really want to use Adium for this. I tried to create an account for this server in Adium, but when I try to connect, it either hangs for a long time, or if I tell it to use HTTP, it says my username or password is incorrect, though they are correct.

In comparing the Adium account setup for MSN with the MSN client for MAC, I noticed that the MSN client has a separate tab for configuring for a corporate account versus a personal account. On both config tabs, there are fields for email address and password, but the corporate tab has one additional field: User ID, where this is entered in the form domain\email. If I clear that field in my MSN config, I then get a login failure.

It seems to me that Adium simply doesn't support this kind of account, but I hope I'm wrong on that.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Ernest

A corporate MSN account is probably a OCS/LCS account and that means that it uses SIP. See http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/48 for more details.
