1.3.3 is ignoring display name in msn

have just upgraded to 1.3.3 and have noticed that adium is now ignoring any display name that you have set in msn, it is showing your email address/login instead.
seemed to be fine before upgrade. i have confirmed this with another user that has just upgraded.
has this been done on purpose? or is it a mistake ?

Download the debug version and post what happens in the debug window when you try to change your nick.

There are at least three places to change your nick. The generic personal tab, the personal tab for the msn account and in the contact list so maybe one of those places are broken.

ok i have changed my display name to "Test" in both the msn specific display name and the global display name. without knowing which one it is that isn't working, it's tricky to know exactly what to test.

Your (C)lient sends a PRP command to change your friendly/display name to "Test" and the (S)erver responds correctly so your friendly/display name is Test.

so why was it showing me full email address as the display name to anyone i chatted to.
the same problem was also happening with another user i was speaking to that was also using the same build of adium.

What do you have as Contact Name Format in the View menu?

I see no error in the debug log at least so I have no idea why it doesn't work for you.

People complaining that my name is my email even though my display name in the account is set to something different

Does it work if your remove any name from the msn account and just write one in the personal tab?
Does it work if you go back to 1.3.2?

it seems that you need to change both the global display name and the msn specific display name for adium at the same time to set the change.
if you do just one of them then it seems to ignore it.
i just had it happen to me again there (showing email address).. so i set the global display name to "test" and the msn specific name to "test" and it changed to "test".
i then went back and changed the msn specific name to "test2" and it didn't change.

Just deleted the msn-specific name, and changed the one in my contactlistwindow at the top. Seems to be good now. Weird anyway.
