How come webcam works in aMSN and Mercury Messenger?

Postby equalsabracket » Sun Mar 08, 2009 8:33 pm

I've read the technical jargon about the reasons why it doesn't work with Adium but how does webcam manage to work with aMSn and Mercury Messenger? Surely Adium can use their methods? aMSN is open source too so can they not make Adium able to work using the same method as them?

There would be a lot more needed that just copying code.
Just one example: Adium would need its own GUI.

aMSN and Mercury are both written in Java, no? If so, would that not make porting the code even harder?

I think it would be wisest to wait for libpurple to support this feature.
