adium facebook offline contacts do not work.

Adium and Facebook

I have adium 1.3.3

When I set Adium to show offline contacts I only see facebook contacts that have logged in since I installed adium. Also the offline contacts I do see show up as a cryptic number like 543983424 or something (not phone numbers).

why does this happen? How can I fix to see a list of all offline facebook contacts?

Should be fixed for 1.3.4.

I think there are other threads about this you could have found if you had searched.

I have 1.3.4 here and have the same symptoms described by darthpenguin.

A bit more specifically...

Facebook friends who are logged on have names and are shown as on-line (green) or idle (yellow).

Those who have been on-line in the current session have names, too, and are shown as having signed-off.

Friends who had been on-line during previous sessions still apprear and I recognize their user icons; but their names have vanished and there are apparently random numbers in place of their names.

If there is a fix for this or more information in another thread, please point me in that direction. Thanks!

As yet I have no solution other then just turning off the show off-line contacts function so that the cryptic numbers are not an eye sore. I hope this gets fixed in an update. Until then Adium with facebook chat is flaky but better then keeping Safari open.

I have the same problem and I am running 1.3.4. However, I will say that they are not "random" or "cryptic" numbers. They are the numbers of the accounts of your friends on Facebook and can be seen in the url of your friends Profile pages.

So Adium is simply not getting or displaying the name info unless it's forced to... Or so it seems.

Just downloaded the newest beta (1.4b4) and it still does the same thing, even though the version history for 1.3.4 claims that it has been fixed.

And by the way there are no other threads that darthpenguin could have searched for that deal with this issue. The previously discussed issues dealt with ONLINE contacts being shown as their respective Facebook ID numbers not OFFLINE contacts.

Just thought I'd post a "Me too!" to this. Still not fixed in 1.3.5. This is my only problem with Adium.

I never had this problem until I tried to delete the plist file to see if I can fix the problem of user icons that are no longer showing up. It didn't fix this problem, it made it worse. now everybody on my list has the generic icons. When I launched the app after deleting the plist file, only the contacts currently online were showing. Once they went offline, they were still showing (as I have the preferences set), but those who weren't online or hadn't signed on after deleting the plist file aren't showing at all. restoring the plist file didn't work. I am missing a contact with Gtalk too.

I have been using 1.3.5 since the day it was released, but this is a new problem.

I think this probably won't be fixed for the 1.3.x series of Adium but for 1.4.
