I have so far set up Adium for my more well used clients (MSN/AIM) and have had no trouble with those so far, but trying to set it up with Facebook seems to be another matter...

It all logs in fine, and shows my online contacts, and I can send a message to them through the facebook messenger which my contact receives fine, but when I am sent a message it just doesn't seem to make it to my Adium window - The only way to receive the messages is to open a facebook window in my browser, where all the messages I have been sent while online but without facebook open appear at once.

Is this a normal occurrence? Or is there something rather wrong on my end? The way it is having facebook via Adium is utterly useless, and in fact more an annoyance as I get the occasional message and have no idea it has been sent until whenever I next log into the site via browser...

Its working just fine for me. You are not seeing this behavior?

it doesn't seem to be dropping odd messages, just everything that is being said to me. Admittedly this is all via conversations started by another (one of the reported problems there) - this is the whole problem: I am not getting any messages when someone starts a conversation with me until i log into facebook via browser.

Which version of Adium are you using?

I thought I had the most recent one, but apparently the update window hadn't informed me of the newer version.

I will admit I had missed the update, I just need an appropriate person to be online to help me double check everything is as it should be, I will report back when I can check it out.
