Just installed the 1.4b5 version and tried to sign into my accounts, gmail, twitter and skype connect fine, but MSN doesn't connect.
Checking the details on the connection, it sits at (Retrieving Buddy List 100%)
I tried changing the connection type to HTTP, and also via a proxy but it didn't resolve the problem.

1.4b5 Not connecting to MSN
Re: 1.4b5 Not connecting to MSN
I've just rolled back to the last stable release and the problem still exists.
It wasn't there using 1.4b4 which I was using till the new update, which was seconds before installing it.

Re: 1.4b5 Not connecting to MSN
1.4b4->1.4b5 saw no MSN changes; it's possible the server is having issues. Does b4 still have the issue?

Watching it try to connect in the account window, it goes through the handshake, cookies etc... process and then just waits at the 100% mark.
It might be a case of MSN being down, it just seemed a little odd because it was was working fine and I was chatting to a friend on version 1.4b4. Then the popup to say a new version arrived so I clicked to install. After restarting with the new build the accounts all connected (GTalk, Twitter, Skype), but MSN hasn't.
My friend has his PC on the same network running Pigeon and that's connected to MSN and has been all day.
I've tried adding the MSN account again, but the same problem happens.
I'm going to try disabling plugins next.
Are there any other things I can do, such as delete profiles or anything like that to help me try and get this running because rolling back versions doesn't seem to be an option.
Thanks,
roskelld

Grab a debug log - http://trac.adium.im/wiki/CurrentAdiumDebug has instructions.roskelld wrote:Watching it try to connect in the account window, it goes through the handshake, cookies etc... process and then just waits at the 100% mark.
You could be on a different server than your friend; 1.3.4 uses the same code as Pidgin 2.5.6, for MSN. 1.4 uses an unreleased libpurple version. It might be a case of MSN being down, it just seemed a little odd because it was was working fine and I was chatting to a friend on version 1.4b4. It's unlikely this is a configuration issue. My friend has his PC on the same network running Pigeon and that's connected to MSN and has been all day.

Re: 1.4b5 Not connecting to MSN
Thanks Zac,
I held off over night then tried logging on again this morning, using 1.4b4 and it worked, must have been a server problem. First I've had in a long time, and what timing of it too.
I've updated again to 1.4b5 and it's signed in, so I'll proceed as normal now.
Thanks again.

Did you read the thread at all? It was just faulty MSN servers.nakedjaxx wrote:roskelld wrote: I have the EXACT same problem. How can this be fixed? I tried re-installing, deleting preferences.. etc.
