The window is constantly constantly scrolling and I need to halt it. I have seen I can use the arrows to press Up but then I lose my place. Is there a key I can press which halts the stream instantly?

Use a different style. The one you're using is breaking the behavior of *not* scrolling down. Probably Renkoo, but all the ones that overload Template.html tend to get it wrong.
