E-mail check

Hello,
I have a question “about”
Adium.
I explain. With
Adium, you can have a notification for your new e-mails. For me, it’s very usefull because I have some free
Hotmail boxes, which doesn’t works with traditional mail.app (it isn’t POP3 and s.o. ,…).
But I would like to have that notification without launch
Adium.
I tried to find web2pop, but for
Hotmail, I found only programs for Kro$oft…
I tried to find a widget for
Konfabulator, but none works…
So, my question is: is it possible to make a little program to have that? Maybe built on
Adium possibilities?
Or, do you know a program to check free
Hotmail accounts?
Thanks,
BLD

Bonjour
Sounds like you want
httpmail-plugin which adds Hotmail support to Apple's mail.app.

Salut
evands
thanks.
I asked people on the french forum and
DJ_FoX_MaC_ClouD told me the same thing...
http://adium.aybee.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=152
I tried, but for I doesn't work for me, I don't know why because
DJ_FoX_MaC_ClouD says it works for him.
I have this error message:
Code: Select all
Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://upgrade.msn.com
And, as I said on the french forum, I don't want to give money to Bill!
It isn't very important, but it annoys me to be "insulted" by my Dear Mac, especially when it's about Kro$oft...
À bientôt,
BLD

Ah. Looks like they may have disabled the way httpmail connects.. perhaps contact its author and ask? I don't have or use hotmail, so can't really provide any other insights, had just heard of that program of a while back

You have to pay a subscription in order to use httpmail now. It's the same with outlook and outlook express on windows.
If you like I can invite you to gmail if you'd like to move there with your email. There are apps like gcount and gmailstatus which would do what you want.
If you don't you may just have to keep adium or something else running to do what you want.

Thank you
very much for your proposal,
The_Tick!
I'll seriously think about it...
But, you know, what distress me the most is to don't be able to find a solution, to don't understand. I hate that!
It's possible with
Adium to have a mail notification, even if it's a free Hotmail account. So it means that's possible(and without
messenger). Maybe something with GAIM (GaimNotifyEmail) or something else.
But I don't know enough programming (for the moment, I think that'll urge me to learn) to see what to do.
I'll try to fix it. If I can't, I'll leave this "*#&@ e-mail!

Humm Humm...
I understand no more.
I tried again this morning with Mail.app, still the same error message (it works good with other "normal" e-mails I tried). It doesn't work with Entourage (

) too.
I have Mail 1.3.9 (v619) and httpmail panther 1.43 (didn't had error message when installing), and it's a free hotmail.com account.
If somebody undertand something..........
Thanks for your testimonies.
