Adium keeps flashing offline contacts

Hey guys.
Adium is experiencing this strange phenomenon where every minute or two, it will show me two or three contacts on my contact list that are offline, and theres no reason for them to be there. They stay on the list (greyed out, listed as "offline") for 5 or 10 or 15 seconds, then go away. Then they do it again after another minute. Any clue what's going on and how to stop it?
