RSA-encryption for chat with pidgin-encryption user

Hi,
I suppose my question is a bit redundant but nevertheless:
I have a friend who uses Pidgin under Linux and I have tried to convince him to use the OTR-plugin for Pidgin. But he insist to use the pidgin-encryption plugin http://pidgin-encrypt.sourceforge.net/index.php (also, there seem to be a plugin available for miranda under Win (which uses a friend of my friend...), which is compatible to the pidgin-encryption plugin).
Since discussions did not help to convince him to use OTR I want to ask, if I can get pidgin-encryption to work with Adium? I have not yet tried if the package compiles with Mac OS but I suppose the plugin interaces are anyway different for pidgin and adium, or?
Maybe somebody has already some experienses how to make a rudimentary plugin for Adium with this one?
