Adium 1.4b10 Chatlog Disappearance

I keep chatlogs meticulously because I'm fun like that, but recently some third of the logs keep disappearing for no reason. When I click on the date and time in the transcript viewer, they come up as blank. I checked the actual files at Home(user)/App Support/Adium 2.0/Default/Logs etc. etc., and the chat FILES are there and uncorrupted. Completely in tact. But even if I remove them from that folder and put them back in, Adium just won't recognize some of them in the chat log viewer itself. I tried restarting-- all the known Adium fixers I could find. Nothing is fixing a problem I'm not sure should even exist since it only began the last two days and I've had the beta longer than that.

Any insights?

I'm on a MacBook Pro with version 10.5.8.

Edit: OH. And so far I've only seen it happening with AIM. Hope that helps?

Hi there,
actually I'm experiencing the exact same issue right now. It's a regression in b9. See http://trac.adium.im/ticket/12856. The issue will be fixed for b10 (as always: no eta).
You are right: the transcripts are fine, they are just not displayed correctly in the Viewer due to the bug.

Oh! Thank you! It isn't a huge deal since I can save the documents separately as HTML to access if I really need the logs, but I was hoping it wasn't something wrong with my computer.

If anyone else runs into this before the next beta is out and would like a quick fix, the following one-liner can be executed from the Terminal to fix the entity escaping in the log files so they appear properly in the viewer:

Code: Select all

find ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adium\ 2.0/Users/Default/Logs/ -name '*.xml' -print0 | xargs -0 perl -pi.orig -e 's/&(\w+[^;\w])/&\1/g'
Note: it will leave a copy of all your log files in the directories with the extension .orig. If you are happy with the results, you can then delete the .orig files.

I thought this might still be pertinent in light of the new beta update, buuut.

I can see chatlogs I make now that have ampersands (&) in links, but any logs created prior to the update in beta still aren't working for me.

Also, I ran the code the post above said would fix the problem, but it didn't do anything for me.

Robby, is this why logs don't show up when I use the search function in the chatlog viewer, but are there, if I search manually, or is that a different bug entirely? It's not 100% consistent, but often, when I search for a log by a keyword that I know is present, it doesn't show up.

Hi there,
I think that must some different bug. I've seen other reports of the search not functioning properly, I'm sure there's a ticket around. If you could add some information to that, it might help fix the bug. :)

No problem, I'll go take a look in a few minutes
