OK, I have been using 1.4b9 for quite awhile, and the problem only starts recently. (like yesterday)

For most messages (not all) I send to a MSN contact, it first appears fine, but after a few minutes it will show up two errors for every message.
Like this:

Me: Hello!
Hello! (the rest is adium response)
Hello!
Message may have not been sent because a timeout occurred:
Message could not be sent because an error with the switchboard occurred:
---
I checked with my contacts, and they apparently received what I have said.
So, the message is actually successfully sent.

However, on the other hand, I'm not receiving my contacts' responses.

I'm not sure if this is my local problem or a remote server change.
Please let me know if you need more information so that you can help me resolve this issue.

Also, for whatever reason, at the same time of this problem adium does not quit and freeze, and cpu 100% in activity monitor.
I tried reinstalling adium (via appzapper), and it doesn't seem to solve the issue. (that msg isn't received, the erro messages, and adium does not quit)

All I can think of is that I recently installed a new contact list layout, that's it.
I'm assuming I cannot quit adium is something local.

I realise you posted this long ago but I just came across this thread.

MSN reacts overly sensitive to connection problems. The error you are getting usually happens when your network is unstable.

I have been having the same problem. I have a 25MB Verizon Fios connection so I would think I have a very stable connection. I too have been experiencing the quit issue although it is random - http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=22993

I am currently trialling the connection via HTTP option for MSN to see if that works.
