Some contacts appear offline when they are indeed online

Post by hirogrrl »

I have a couple of contacts that appear offline when they are online. Other contacts can see these people, but I cannot. So it has been verified that they are online.
Here are my specs:
- Adium 1.3.6
- MacOSX 10.5.7
- Only installed it for AOL Instant messaging currently. Deleted everything else.

He is using:
- Trillian 3.1 basic
- PC Windows XP

He was in my contact list last night and we were instant messaging, but today he doesn't appear online when he is infact online. When I try to send him a message, when it says he is offline, I get this error message:
Unable to send message: Refused by client
Earlier got this message (before reinstalling adium)
Unable to send message: Refused by Server

I've checked mine and his settings and neither of us blocked each other. Not sure what is going on, but please help. I searched for hours on your forum, but couldn't find any solutions for this scenario.
Much much thanks and greatly appreciate it!

I am seeing the same issue using the 1.4 betas (1.5hgr2700 and later). The people that appear offline are using Adium 1.3.9. What information do you need to help resolve this?

Mine is happening w/Adium and Trillian combined. But others in my contact list are using Trillian too, so it can't be specific to this case scenerio. The other person I have is using ichat or aol aim. This problem appears to be a random thing and not specific to any platform or user. I've even deleted the user and re-added them as they did the same, but that didn't even work. Any one have any information, I'd greatly appreciate it. Many Thanks!
