Blinking and Combined Messages?

2 quick questions:

1. In the beta, what happened to the "Combine Consecutive Messages" display option. I'd like to turn it off, but can't find it...

2. Is there anyway to get my contact list to stop blinking when someone sends me a message? If it blinked 3 times, then stoped, I'd be a much happier person.

Thanks,
Chris

1. It's been removed, the only way to now turn it off is by editing a .plist somewhere (not sure where or what though i'm afraid). It was done because of the inconsistencys (awful spelling yes.) that it made with different message view styles, as with some turning it off could render it useless etc. I think it's sorta like an attempt to get message view style creators to standardise their creations. Someone elaborate on this if I'm wrong or whatever.

2. You can't make it stop blinking after three seconds, but you can turn it off alltogether. It's under the contact list section of the advanced tab on the prefs. De-check "flash names with unviewed contact"

Damn will I be glad when this wiki is done.

I believe, although I could be wrong, that you just need to add two lines into the relevant .plist with your text editor du jour.

Code: Select all

<key>DisableCombineConsecutive</key>
<true/>
That goes in the .plist file of the message view - find it by control-clicking and choosing "show package contents" on a .AdiumMessageStyle

That's the command (I think) but I haven't checked which plist it's in, but I've never wanted to turn it off so not 100%.

It's definitely that .plist, I just wasn't entirely sure of the wording of the key. So between us, we're bound to be right ;)
