Long delay when 'sending' a message

Starting in the last few days, Adium has started to do something odd. When I'm in a chat, after typing a message and hitting Enter, there is a long delay before the message sends. This was in the previous production release, and also in the latest beta (1.4b17). Has anyone else seen this? Is there anywhere I can look to try to work out what's happening?
Thanks,
Tom

I've noticed something similar, but it only appears to take a long time to send only from my end.
Using a remote desktop session to another Mac on my network and the Bonjour protocol in Adium i can see the other computer receives the IM instantly; it just takes a couple of seconds for my Mac to decide it's actually sent the message. Not sure what could be causing the problem.

Exactly the same here. The 'delay' is actually between hitting send/enter and the message appearing in the conversation window.
I've tried with both gtalk and msn and it happens on both. I've also tried closing/disabling every other running application, especially any application that deals with text input, multiple restarts, etc. Nothing has resolved it.

I started having this exact same problem just an hour ago. I paired a new bluetooth headset earlier today and since it was the only change in my system I figured it was the culprit. I went and deleted the headset from the Bluetooth prefpane and Adium went back to normal immediately.

I think the only way for the developers to make sense of this issue would be if you got a sample,
http://trac.adium.im/wiki/Sampling has instructions.
