Anyone know if there have been any updates here? It's been a while since the related ticket has been updated.

How is it also, that some users can use MSN still, but some can't? So libpurple is only having problems in certain instances? Any workaround meanwhile?

It seems odd that I can use MSN using most other programs, on Linux or Windows, but just not Adium. Unfortunately Mac Messenger is crap - whilst not relevant here, it's beyond me why Microsoft, the official creator of MSN, would make something that doesn't support offline messaging and deletes half your message when you type a long message *sigh*.

OK, steam valve closed.

They are still working on it.

MSN is a back-engineered protocol, so it is bound to have issues..

I still have issues with this also and continue to use version 1.3.3, the last stable version for avoiding the MSN retrieving contact list bug. All version releases since then have failed to rectify the problem. If it works in 1.3.3 and previous versions it must be a change in code with Adium and not an MSN problem which everyone is led to believe.

Try this: http://trac.adium.im/wiki/MSN#Defectsbrokenfeatures - "Retrieving Contact List 100%" / "Reading error". :)
