Just noticed in the last 24hrs that GTalk sign-ons are no longer possible. v1.4b17 is reported wrong ID/Passwd.
Anyone else seeing it?

Issue has resolved spontaneously. It would appear to be a problem on GTalk's end. Thanks.

Glad it's working again for you. There hadn't been any other people reporting the issue, I think.

It's off and on for me, depends on the day.
Not a problem with ID/Password - it just won't sign on, the sign-on status remaining stuck on "Initializing Stream (25%)" (in the Preferences), for my GTalk account.

I hate to be the one posting this the most often.
But anyone else still experiencing constant problems signing onto GTalk? It's not an ID/password problem - it just won't connect, and keeps saying "Connecting".
I've tried both Adium v1.3 and 1.4b18.

By the way, here's a debug log (with my email address removed):

someoneorother, there are no errors in that log. It might be incomplete, I don't know.

... or the problem is either on your or Google side of the connection. At any rate, the log does not indicate a problem within Adium as far as I can tell.

I'm having exactly the same issue. Just started this week. Stuck on "Initializing Stream (25%)". Prior to this week I used my Google Talk account with Adium for years and I changed nothing on the account or in Adium recently.
Strange thing is, the same GTalk account works fine on Adium on my other computer.

Seems to be a problem on Google's end, then, and whatever protocol Adium is using to connect to GTalk.
And the problem seems spotty: I was able to connect yesterday; today, as in right now, I can't - problem has re-surfaced.
My only alternative, obviously, is chatting my browser's Gmail environment, which defeats the purpose.

Is there any way to contact Google about this, if they're the ones to talk to?

I was having this problem as well. It seemed that emptying the cache did not work (every time), but did sometimes. This (to me) meant - that is not the problem.
This morning I was not connecting, so I removed that Gtalk account and set that account up using Jabber (rather than Gtalk in Adium Preferences). It connected immediately.
Hoping that fix works for others, and that it sticks -- because I love Adium.

Interesting. The problem hasn't resurfaced in a while now. But if it does, I'll keep that trick in mind.

I've been having this issue lately too. Except I'm on the 1.4 official. It only seemed to happen after I upgraded.
One fix I've found is to log in to Gmail through the web browser first. Then after that's successful, log in with Adium. It's not necessary to be simultaneously logged in to both, but maybe this procedure is resetting something on Google's end?
I have an Android phone, and this was happening to me with Yahoo mail too. The same "fix" was used to enable me to check my mail from my mobile.

I've found the solution.
Background: I have "Connect when Adium Opens" checked, but no password saved. I type in the password to login, and I get a "timeout error."
The solution: Go into the Account List, uncheck the GTalk account, re-check it, re-login. Instant connection.
Sometimes you can go on for a few logins without repeating this process, but if the problems again persist just rinse and repeat. Hope this helps anyone else that has the problem, even on the latest "final" build 1.4.1. I realize this is the beta forum, but I didn't feel like creating a new topic since this is here.
