Since the start of May I have noticed that Facebook rejects my username and password when connecting to Facebook chat, but it works via the browser, and now I have managed to get it working through iChat.
Is there something I am missing that could be causing this, or is it a known issue?
Any help would be good.

Temporarily made the Facebook connection work via the Jabber protocol entry as described for iChat.

http://www.facebook.com/sitetour/chat.php also has instructions for Adium and we created a dedicated Facebook entry on the Adium Wiki to address same issue.

Facebook Chat via XMPP is the better choice, the plugin that comes with Adium currently is a hack.

Thanks, was doing research in the meantime, and I knew Adium did Jabber, so I gave it ago, before finding this.
Anyway, my Twitter aim working today. lol
Just doesn't connect. No errors or anything.
