Others can't see my display picture

It's been driving me crazy. Most people can't see my display picture/icon.
I've checked the settings under 'Personal', and yes, It's set to display an icon.
I have no idea why no one can see it. Any help is appreciated.

Also, barely anyones display picture is now showing, and most of the people can't send me files.

I have the same problem. First it was fine and suddenly no one sees my pic. I use the latest 1.3 version and a Yahoo account. Tried the latest 1.4 beta but nothing. I can see all my contact pics, can see my own in chat windows, can change it, everything; it just doesn't show others. I disabled all my plugins, trashed my prefs in the app support, but nothing. I have the same problem with the Yahoo Messenger, there i cant even get a pic up, so could it be a Yahoo problem?

I wrote this in May, I've tried other clients with my yahoo account. Trillian does show my display pic but isn't fully functional, VoxOx doesn't show pics either. Nimbuzz doesn't even send my IM's. I've always liked Adium best, but why is it sooooo difficult to make a Mac messenger client that is fully functional??? Why do people crave for an iPhone or an iPad before they fix simple things for simple mac users...seriously...

You can't lump Adium issues into Apple product issues. "They" are two separate entities, not related to each other.
That said, I'm having the same issue and can't find a fix for it. The posts I've seen haven't been responded to it, or if they have (like this one) nothing has worked. Not a major priority bug for Adium I guess, but a big annoyance for me.

I'm having this problem in AIM. I've been searching it around, it seems like this problem has been reported a bunch but I can't find anywhere with an actual fix.
This has only happened to me since having to re-download AIM on a new harddrive and moving to snow leopard. I've tried both the new (1.4) version of adium and also the old (1.3.5) that I was using when my icon worked. No luck, nobody can see my icon no matter how many times I set it, but I can see it in my own convos.

i registered to post because this was also driving me crazy. i noticed this happened after i updated to 1.4. my icons can't be seen by my friends and the icon does not register with beejive either.
anyway, a fix i found is to log into iCHAT and change your icon there. the icon will propagate to 'all' your messaging programs even after you log out of ichat (at least i know it pushes the icon to beejive. i've changed my icon a bunch of times in ichat and it registered). i know this works for me because after i changed it, my friends were finally able to see my icon again. HOWEVER, my friends noted that my icon seems lower res than before which is a shame (i think ichat forces a lower resolution for icons to match AIM's default icon size which i think is 48x48 pixels?).
i hope this icon thing gets fixed in a future update because it's kinda annoying but not a big deal (i'm sure the devs have bigger things to worry about). anyway, i love adium and i just want to thank the devs for making this awesome app.
