Input Text Font Size

Is there a way of increasing the size of the input text font ?
I am able to customize the Text display for incoming messages, but I can't find how to do that for the text that I type.
I am on Snow Leaopard and the input size looks way too small (8 or 9 pt) ...

another font issue. i have set helvetica size 14 as my default font, but my friend on a MSN windows client sees my font as a mere size 6 or 7. Any idea if this is a known issue?

I see the same issue.

My friends using other clients can change their font size and I see it in Adium.

But if I change font in Adium, they keep seeing a small black font. Sometimes I can change the face and color, but the size remains tiny and hard for them to read.
