I've just started work at a new company, and part of the setup procedure includes the creation of my IM screen name and contact list. Every employee in the company is present, sorted into contact groups based on department. I'd like to be able to create a 'My Team' contact group or the like, so that I can add the people I'm working with every day to this group for ease of use in seeing who's online/status/etc. Sifting through the 300+ people in about 20 different groups isn't really an option for this. I don't, however, want to remove those people from the groups they're already part of- I just want them to ALSO appear in a new, custom group. Does Adium have any way to do this? Thanks!

What protocol(s) are you using? Contacts being in multiple groups has to be supported by the server too.

If it is Jabber (XMPP), that supports contacts in multiple groups and this also works in Adium (since the 1.4 beta, see http://beta.adium.im/). It's not very intuitively, but you can do it by right-clicking on a contact and going to the fourth tab where you can add the groups a contact is in.
