Alright, call me stupid but...

I can't change my preferences, my history is non-existent and I can't manage to figure out why. I have virtually all info below that's usable.

I have also tried chown to my username:group, my userid:groupid, and everything in between. I have tried chmod to even 777 (which I do not like doing) and it does not want to work!

Note: I have substituted myusername for my actual user name on this system.

I guess it's worth noting that this Adium folder is from a previous install and I have not kept everything the same (in fact, I have changed a lot since).

Is there any way I can save this or should I just bite the bullet?

Where are you coming from? Did you update? Which was your previous, which is your current version of Adium?

Currently using 1.3.10.

Come to think of it, I might not have had this problem until I updated to 1.3.10, but I have logs through half of February and I typically update within a week of my first update notice. It's rare that I miss a version, especially of something I use as frequently as Adium.

I haven't been using this computer extremely actively since May or June, which is probably why this has gone on so long without me even bothering to notice, but I almost lost a friend's new address due to my history not saving, so I've decided it's time to seriously look into this issue.

Thanks!

-[NSDictionary writeToFile:atomically:] also returns NO (the print above is the NO case) when the contents are invalid. Try moving, while Adium is quit, (temporarily at least) the plist file and see if it can begin saving again from the defaults. If this is the case, attaching the contents of the old file would be useful.

Still the same errors as before (presuming you meant Login Preferences.plist). If I was wrong on that, let me know and I'll try moving whatever I need to.

I'm about 60% certain I need to just bite the bullet.

Try moving

Code: Select all

 /Users/myusername/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/Saved Status.plist

Alright, first off:

Code: Select all

mv: rename Saved Status.plist to Saved Status.bkup: Permission denied
Kinda funky considering:

Code: Select all

-rw-rw-r--+ 1 myusername staff 4493 Jan 17 2010 Saved Status.plist
That being said, I sudo'd it and it moved. Now I have eliminated the major issue. Only thing I see in "Console" now relating to Adium is an error about audio, because I have my audio interface disconnected. I think I can mark this as solved, but I want to check in a couple days to be sure.
