Starting some time since Friday, it looks like there must have been a change in protocol version by IBM's Sametime gateway.

When I try to connect to the gateway, I get an error "Version mismatch".

I am trying to connect to the gateway at extst.ibm.com, port 80.

But the strange thing: I went to see what errors may have occured in my logs (I am using the latest beta for Mac OS X), so I fired up Console and here is what I saw (I have truncated out the log message from a contact on the Sametime system):

11/1/10 7:34:11 AM Adium[17238] -safeFilenameString called on a string longer than 255 characters (it will be truncated): @"Sametime. <very long string removed for security reasons>"

This has been popping into my console since 10/27 (late last week). I am not sure if it's coincidental, or part of the problem. Note that when I start Adium, I get this error in the console, even though I am unable to connect completely to the Sametime gateway.

My apologies. I rec'd this with the latest beta, and this morning also got the problem with 1.4 non-beta as I picked up the update, Mac OS X 10.6.4

It would be great if this could be moved to the regular support forum...

Very scary: The text that I redacted from my report is not from Adium. It's the text of an email (Mac Mail) that I sent to someone in my company in July. This looks like it's got a bad pointer and is grabbing data it should not.

Is there a way that I can grep through all of my Adium transcripts and logs to determine if these strings are in there? It's scary enough that I've got bleed over between email and Adium.

I have eliminated the spurious log message regarding the strength length. Sametime login still fails.

Not sure how my buddy list got corrupted, but that long email string was embedded in a particular contact/buddy as part of the name. I converted the two plist files where it existed to XML, edited by hand, and cleaned it up.
