Style formatting for "unread" messages

Post by bjork24 »

Since upgrading to the newest version of Adium (1.4) this morning, I've found that messages that are received when the window is in the background have a strange shaded background. I've looked all over the preferences and can't figure out how to turn this off. Is there a way to do this?

Thank God I'm not the only one getting this problem! It's not just a strange shading, it's a flat gray block that affects all styles. It's getting annoying and I can't figure out how to fix it.

Yep, mine too.

Want to turn this off, it's hideously ugly...!

It seems I've unwittingly created a thread asking the same thing. I have, however, managed to get a partial description of this functionality.

well it seems like these "focus indicators" aren't functioning like they're suppose to. and i too have searched tirelessly for a way to turn it off. i was thinking it had something to do with the mentions function.

We're investigating a solution.

I've closed coffeebucket's thread in favour of this one.

Thanks Robby. When can we expect a patch?

It appears that 1.4.1 does not resolve this issue. Could we at least get a checkbox in preferences to turn off this unneeded modification?

We had to rush out 1.4.1 due to the ICQ server change. Other fixes like message style ones are targeted for 1.4.2.

It looks like focus indication will be removed for single chats and only kept for group chats in Adium 1.4.2. We hope that solves this issue for most of you people. =-)

Any idea on when it'll be released? I'm a bit OCD and it's driving me bonkers. I just installed the new one and now I regret it. :\

Do you know if the problem with blocking people was resolved? I've kept everyone not on my list blocked, and I haven't kept up to date with that issue.

We are targeting next month. You can use a different style in the meantime.

Please stay on-topic, this only confuses people.

It's on all styles, so that doesn't change anything, but I'm glad it's going to be fixed soon!

Sorry, it's impossible to keep up with this forum.

Nope, these indicators are only there in the styles bundled with Adium. There are many, many others at adiumxtras.com. =-)

Bump. Any word on when 1.4.2 will be out, and if it will definitely fix this?

I cannot give a date.

But what I can tell you is that focus and mention indication will be turned off for single-user chats and turned on for group chats. Also, focus and mention indication will look different in Mockie.

There's no date but there has been some progress recently. See http://trac.adium.im/wiki/FollowingDevelopment.
