Before upgrading to the latest version (I was running 1.3.10), a contact who had already upgraded to 1.4 attempted to send me a screenshot (taken using OS X's inbuilt command-shift-4 keyboard shortcut). When I received the file, I couldn't view it with any image viewer on my system (Preview, Xee, Sequential). When we were both on 1.3.10 this was never an issue. Now that I've also upgraded to 1.4, everything seems to be back to normal. If any developers wish to look into the matter, I've kept copies of both the corrupted and functioning files. Drop me a line and I can send them your way.

In a related issue, I was unable to send files at all to the 1.4 contact with my 1.3.10 contact. The contact was set to automatically receive file transfers from contacts. But any attempts to send files from my end would not initiate a transfer. Again, this has been resolved now that we are both using the same version.

Which service(s) is this with?

This behaviour was occurring with MSN. I didn't try any other protocols.

Odd, I'm not a developer so I can't say much about this.

An update on the issue...

I've recently upgraded to 1.4.2 and other contacts on my list are still using 1.4. Using MSN the exact same thing is happening again. Given this is the second time it's happened, there's obviously something that breaks file transfer compatibility between versions of Adium. This bares closer inspection. If you need me to log a bug, let me know.

1.4.2 does not support MSN file transfers (adium.im/help/).

Thanks for the update. I've rolled back to 1.4 for the time being, which I'm hoping will play nice with any internal config/schema changes made by running 1.4.2.
