I am having the same issues and I had read the entire thread. The previous fix did not work for me and I am not sure if it did not work or I did not do it right. Still, this is really frustrating since I like my adium chat...

If you want people to be able to help you, you need to tell us what you tried and what does not work.

same here. I've reinstalled the application, removed the account, gone through the settings and I'm also almost certain that this is happening with my Yahoo! contacts as well (although I rarely talk to those ones as much) they never appear online nor do FaceBook contacts. People can see me online and if they message me then I'll get the messages usually a few minutes delayed but I am unable to see them. Suggestions?

You' could have spared yourself all this trouble if you had read this thread properly. A solution has been mentioned.

Solution is to use a Jabber account instead of a Facebook account to connect to FB. Instructions here:
