GoogleTalk and Facebook contacts appear in same group

Firstly, please forgive me if this question has been answered elsewhere. I attempted to search for an answer, finding none that seemed definitive I scanned the top four or five pages of posts dating into mid-October, but found nothing that quite answered my question.
Upon discovering that Adium now supports facebook chat via Jabber (missed the boat on this one for a bit, it would seem), I followed the instructions on facebook and setup my Jabber account. All my facebook friends are available to chat again in Adium, wonderful! However, instead of creating a separate group for facebook contacts as had been the case under the previous Pidgin implementation, my facebook contacts joined my GoogleTalk group. Furthermore, in the Get Info window via the Account drop down, my facebook contacts were listed as belonging to my GoogleTalk account. I attempted to create a facebook group and move contacts to this group one by one but besides being cumbersome given the number of my facebook friends, upon restart these contacts were duplicated, now appearing in both the GoogleTalk and Facebook group.
Now, from what I've gathered, it is intended that multiple accounts from the same service would mix contacts into a single group for that service. Is it also intended that GoogleTalk and Facebook should mix because they are both Jabber based? Is this a bug? Or have I just overlooked something obvious?
