Transparent Message View Backgrounds?

Post by szilard »

I know its something thats been discussed before, but in the 1.3 Safari debug menu i noticed a "Use Transparent Window" option, which causes pages with out a background color to become transparent and one with a semi-transparent background to look something like this:

Does this mean transparent message views may be possible in the near future?

If you can find out how to code that in CSS/HTML (possibly figuring out what tags get added to a webpage when you enable that option), then yes, it would be possible.

Even if i use the right css and html, in adium i won't make it transparent. It seems to be a new, optional, feature of the 10.3.9 WebKit. I was wondering if this feature of WebKit could be enabled in Adium to allow a transparent message view?

Yes, it appears to be possible as of 10.3.9 (won't know for sure until it's tried), but it can't be done from html/css. I haven't heard that anyone in particular is looking into it right now, but we know some people are interested, so it may turn up in the future.
