Persistent Nonsense GTalk Auth. Requests

Post by lem0nayde »

I'm running Adium 1.4.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.8. I am logged into AIM and GTalk simultaneously.

At the end of last week, I began getting the Authorization Requests popup throughout the day. Each time, the request list is populated with the @aol addresses from my AIM buddy list. The addresses are often listed multiple times, in random order. It seems that wires are somehow getting crossed between my AIM and GTalk lists and GTalk thinks that all of my AIM contacts are requesting access via GTalk (which is not ever the case).

Clicking Deny, Deny and Block, Ignore, Ignore and Block for individual names or all of the names together causes the window to go away, but within a half hour it pops back up with all of the same names on it (again, repeated multiple times in random order).

I've restarted, deleted and added my GTalk account back in, rebooted my computer — can't get this bug to go away.

I have been using Adium a long time and have not experienced this prior to the end of last week. Now, it's so distracting throughout the day -- I may have no choice but to abandon the program.

Any help is MUCH appreciated!

I, too, am having the same issue. I'm running 10.6.7 Mac OS. I have deleted my AOL Messenger account and I'm only using Yahoo IM and Gtalk accounts, and am still having this issue. I've tried deleting my AOL contact on gmail, but they I continue to get these authorizations popping up.

You're going to have to take care of these requests, so try doing it on gmail.com.

Google now federates with AIM and is trying to convert you to their new system. You won't be able to disregard these notifications: either accept or reject them, but it sounds like Adium isn't treating them correctly.

This is unrelated to any AIM account you may have in Adium; it's entirely GTalk.
