IRC contact alerts?

I have a number of chatbots that need to always be online in an IRC channel that I frequent, and I've been looking for a good way to get notifications of when the server that the bots live on crashes.

I had tried a number of different methods, when I realized that I could probably use Adium's contact alert things to notify me when the bots sign off! However, I'm not sure how to get these to work. I go to contact info for one of the bots, and then to the alerts tab, and configure it to show an alert when it signs off. But when I kill the bot, I don't get any alert. I tried adding the bots as contacts, still no alerts. Has anybody else successfully gotten contact alerts working for IRC contacts? Is it a bug I should report?

You should be able to add the bot to your contact list, and then add alerts to that contact.

Can you screenshot your "get info" window's alerts tab for the bots' contact on your contact list?

The bot (atrusbot) is on my contact list, but when I disconnect him I still don't get the alert.

Strange. What kind of IRCd is it, and does the contact go offline in the contact list when the bot goes offline?

I am unsure about the kind of IRCd, as I don't run the server - just the bots. The contact does go offline, yes.
