Issues with Adium Version 1.4.1

Hi,
I have been using Adium for a while now (ever since I got my mac a year ago a Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.7) and it has been working fine. However, since the start of this week I have been experiencing problems with Adium where I keep getting disconnected from either my AIM account or my Gmail account but never both at the same time. In addition to this, I can not close individual chat windows with the "command+w" input and when I want to shut down my laptop, Adium prevents the shut down because it says that Adium has stopped working. I am using the latest version of Adium (1.4.1). Has anyone encountered this problem before and have a solution to solve it?
