I use adium to post to a group chat of several people, many of whom do not use adium. We have a room which has been created using pidgin. I'm a mac user and cannot use pidgin.

I am able to be invited to the group. The group is on my bookmarked group list. However, I cannot join the group without being invited, even though people using pidgin can. I am also thrown out of group chat every hour, on the hour. For no apparent reason. It's sodding frustrating. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

I am in Australia and most of the people (not all though!) are in the US.
